My family and I snuck away for a couple of days.
And while Tony worked, the boys and I played. And shopped.
There was also a lot of rich down time which gave me the opportunity reflect and refocus. I really needed to get my priorities back in order after this last month. I came to the realization that I am not very good with deadlines. They seem to control my every waking moment.
Which isn’t cool.
I needed to change my mindset because I will always have sessions on the calendar and looming deadlines. ALWAYS. It’s sort of like laundry yet I never stress over the bottomless clothes hamper. What I decided to do was set aside a few devoted work days each week – days for client deadlines ONLY. No blogging. No grocery shopping. No appointments. Just focused time in my office. Up until this point, I’d been trying to do it all at once. Never really feeling totally productive because my hands were in too many pots at one time.
It’s like a GIANT weight has been lifted from my shoulders. Because now I’ve reclaimed some of my play time even with a packed calendar.
And that, on the other hand, is VERY cool.
