I hosted Thanksgiving for real this time. Meaning I cooked a turkey and made the food all by myself.
I prepared as much as I could ahead of time.
It was my second time ever cooking a turkey. My first time ever using the roaster oven I’d been given years ago as a gift.
The night before, I called my mom and told her I’d changed my mind and didn’t think I could pull it off. ![]()
I woke in the wee hours to make sure three days were indeed enough for thawing out a frozen bird. After cleaning up my mess from the day before, I even had time to relax before guests arrived.
Everyone seemed to ignore the fact the turkey was a bit dry. The potatoes, a bit lumpy. It was a great learning experience and a huge mom milestone for me.
Now our kids can get married. I’m ready.
