Despite the fact that Chelsea and I had been communicating by email for more than a year, we never had the opportunity to actually meet until her wedding day – a first for me!
When I arrived on scene, Chelsea and her bridesmaids were deep into the process of hair and makeup. I set out to capture details and get a lay of the land…
I noticed right away that butterflies seemed to hold special meaning for Chelsea. I had been spotting them left and right this summer [my most recent run-in being HERE] so my attention was captured from the start. While I don’t know Chelsea’s story, I do know the butterfly is a symbol of powerful transformation and beauty.
And I kept that in mind as I captured their day, looking for insight into their story and relationship.
Before long, it was time for the ladies to get dressed.
Chelsea reminded me very much of a princess. Breathtakingly beautiful.
You can see it all in her momma’s face. We even had time to orchestrate a special shot the ladies had been planning:
The groom and the rest of the men were in another part of the church. It made my heart melt watching them care for all the littles.
The “first look” took place just outside the church in what had to be one of the most moving scenes I have ever witnessed.
It was clear the two have something very special together.
All of the ladies looked so pretty.
And the men, quite dashing.
Then surrounded by their closest friends and family, the two exchanged vows.
Becoming husband and wife! The rest of the evening was not only full of fun (the bouquet toss even got it’s own post, click HERE for details) but included many touching moments as well:
Colin’s momma had been interviewed by the DJ for a very special song that was played late into the evening as a surprise.
Her words were interspersed throughout a song that was all about a momma and her son. (As a mom of two boys myself, I could barely hold back my own tears.)
Such a lovely couple, inside and out.
Congratulations Colin and Chelsey!!!
