Gathering around the dinner table is something my husband and I became very intentional about several years ago. It allows us to stay connected to our teen boys and is a built-in “pause” in an otherwise hectic schedule. Keeping the kids enthused about it was another thing.
I wanted to our kids to look forward to our time around the dinner table, not merely tolerate it. Over time we stumbled upon the perfect solution => the interactive family meal.
Interactive family meals not only draw the kids to the table, they turn mealtime into an activity that encourages engagement.
Interactive family meals appeal to kids of all ages.
And provides the perfect environment for creating lasting memories.
We sprinkle them into our daily dinner routine about once every 2-3 weeks. Some of our favorite interactive family meal ideas include:
-
meat or cheese fondue (click HERE to find a great cookbook full of creative recipes)
-
taco or nacho bar
-
build-your-own pizza
-
baked potato bar
-
build-your-own sandwich
- build-your-own sundae
- dessert fondue
