Yesterday was my Birthday Itinerary Day [a tradition we started several years ago, details of which are HERE]. Last year was a huge flop – so much so, it had me wondering whether or not this tradition was even worth keeping up. (Let’s just say the teen boys did not enjoy my BID and made it abundantly clear.) I thought long and hard about how I wanted to spend the day this year and decided to try something new.
Well, new to my husband and me. To the boys, not so much:
The photo above was taken in 2010 at Action City.
I had been wanting to check out Vertical Endeavors ever since hearing good things about it from Pippy’s mom some time ago. The St. Paul location offers a “Family Night” package on Saturdays beginning at 5:30 pm and I thought that would be the least intimidating way for my husband and I to get our feet wet hands chalked. 😉
It turned out to be the perfect introductory experience! We ended our evening with dinner at The Little Oven, a restaurant someone introduced me to 16+ years ago and one I have been craving ever since. Huge portions, lovely atmosphere, awesome food, and great prices. My family loved it.
Making it a successful Birthday Itinerary Day in my book and a tradition worth repeating.
