our 4th of july tradition

After visiting with the ladies from our last IF:Table and discussing our favorite summer traditions, I realized that some of mine pass in such a blur I rarely have time to share more than a photo or two on my blog!

That’s about to change because I’m actually going to follow through with a promise and share one of our longtime family traditions.  Actually, it’s more like two celebrations rolled into one because my dad’s birthday is almost always tied to our 4th of July tradition.

There is always an assortment of snakes and smoke bombs for the older kids to light.

And the pool.  Can’t forget the pool.

It’s always fun, even at night.

And though we always end with a bonfire and s’mores, this was our first year with a propane-fueled fire on the pool deck (vs. old school firepit in the sand).

Fewer mosquitos and a muuuuuch better photo op, in my opinion.
