I wrote a post in May that I fully expected to come back to before now. It was about saying goodbye to good things (click HERE for details).
My friend Julianne had decided the time had come to step down from her leadership position at our Wednesday morning bible study. What I failed to mention was that I, too, was leaving (along with another longtime leader friend, Diane).
These ladies and I go way back. I joined the bible study 10+ years ago on the heels of my first pregnancy loss and the mess that followed. (Tests. Surgeries. Two more pregnancy losses.) There were just a handful of ladies back then – Julianne and Diane already part of the group. [It has since grown to a group of more than 200 women!] Wednesday morning bible study provided me with a place to grieve and grow.
We helped each other weather life’s storms.
God used it to help shape me into the woman I am today and for that I am deeply grateful. But as I mentioned before, sometimes God asks us to say goodbye to good things to make room for something new.
Which is exactly what happened this summer with IF:Table. A monthly gathering of women over dinner. Not a bible study, but a place to connect and go deeper. To encourage one another. To create bridges.
Don’t get me wrong, I still very much have bible study on the brain. In fact, I’m trying to get this one off the ground as I speak type => Restless by Jennie Allen.
As I close the door on Wednesday morning bible study, the end of my journey there seems to echo the start: tests, surgery, and a time of healing. A new season in more ways than one.
