Photographing extended families is an electric experience. The blending together of multiple families brings about an energy that cannot be matched.
This family is no exception. Heather, a longtime retreat friend of mine, gathered her favorite people together for a session at Minnehaha Falls. We met earlier this month when leaves were just beginning to turn. The sun was out and the air had that end-of-summer-bordering-on-fall-feel. My favorite time of year.
Apparently, I am not the only one who feels that way because the park was teaming with visitors. Heather’s parents arrived first, giving us time to get to know each other before the rest of the family arrived. It seemed fitting to begin simply with the two of them because that is exactly how their story – this family – began.
Soon after the rest of the family arrived. We gathered leaves and acorns.
And played little games.
Here’s a peek at several more of my favorites as we explored the park:
Thank you again, Heather, for introducing me to your family. It was a joy working with all of you!
