one little word {2017}

My word for 2016 was SAVOR and I did exactly that with moments, food, memories & more. With our firstborn graduating from high school and heading off to college, it was a year of transition.

Change.

This next year will be the last in my forties which means more change is imminent.  I have spent the last decade as mom-of-young-children and as I mentioned in THIS blog post, a new season is approaching.  It is time to cast the net, to REIMAGINE dreams and goals for the next season.

here we are a christmas-ing

The best gift this holiday season is definitely having our oldest home for 3+ weeks. And we have been Christmas-ing it up since his arrival. Here’s a peek at the last eight days:

There was a holiday sleepover with the munchkins. Christmas Eve service at Hosanna. Our annual BINGO tradition at my folks’ house.  A lazy Christmas morning before spending a fun afternoon of games, gifts, and treats with my husband’s family.  Not to mention, loads of socializing with friends.

Hope you had a warm and toasty holiday as well. Merry After Christmas!

10. I made my first pumpkin roll, baked with lavender, made chocolate pavlova, and had all sorts of other culinary adventures.
11. Had the most photo sessions ever!
12. Read more books than I could count.
13. Crocheted my first blanket.  And second.:)
14. Joined my first group bible study in two years.
15. Attended many Prospects shows.
16. Made our first St. Cloud trip as a couple instead of as a family.
17. Attended ScrapCamp for the first time.
18. Hosted our annual Winter Weekend Retreat at Memory Lane once again.
19. Love at First Bite.
20. Made time for crafting (burning wood, embroidery, etching glass, candle-making & more).
21. Hosted an IF:Table dinner every month throughout the year.
22. Our youngest’s BFF got his driver’s license.
23. Breakfast Dates with Tony.
24. Spent most of my free time on Instagram which is where you’ll find a true timeline from 2016.
25. Went to St. Louis, visited the birthplace of Captain Kirk in Iowa, had pizza at the Red Barn Farm in Northfield, and saw Book of Mormon at the Orpheum.

Emotionally, it was a tough year – but I survived and am looking forward to all that 2017 has to offer!

a recap of our weekend

It was special in so many ways. Connecting with some of my favorite people (my friend Renee was even able to attend for the very first time). Taking time to discuss and reevaluate holiday traditions.  Crafting breakout sessions. [Mary even taught us the fine art of butter ball rolling.]  Sharing stories, good food, laughter & tears.

There were presents and egg nog chai lattes.

Not to mention the return of Delilah, a tradition we love to hate.

And I left with all sorts of memories and gifts to be treasured.

favorite things

my favorite things

1. Merry Travel Mug. Just looking at this sweet little mug gives me a lift.

2. Bob’s Sweet Stripes Chocolate Mint Sticks. The perfect cocoa pairing, available at Target.

3. Advent 2016 Study Book by She Reads Truth. Includes daily scripture readings, recipes, and more! I can’t wait to dig in.:D

4. Van Meer’s Stroopwafel Liqueur. Available at Total Wine in itty bitty and full-size bottles. I haven’t tried it yet but thought it might be yummy in an Egg Nog Chai Latte.

5. Smeg Hot Water Kettle. The hot water kettle of all water kettles, on sale right now at William Sonoma. Available in all sorts of adorable colors (sort of like their appliances).

6. C’est Noel Christmas Ornament. I heart words AND all things French so this ornament speaks deeply to me.

Happy Friday!

Hello Tina, I have been looking for a “starter” bible study – thank you for the recommendation!
