At a location very dear to them.

Jenny wanted to make sure Scarlet was included.

So we weaved in all sorts of meaningful reminders throughout.

I met my cousin Jennifer and her darling little family for a session in Minneapolis a few weeks ago.

The girls braved the cold with the help of their momma’s knitting skills (LOVE THE HATS!) and the promise of hot chocolate.

it’s that time of year

© Tina Vega Photography© Tina Vega Photography© Tina Vega Photography

Time to reflect on what has worked and what hasn’t in the last year.  What do I want more of?  What do I need less of?

Time to start dreaming about the weeks, months, and year ahead.  What has been tugging at me?  What makes my heart soar?

Time to consider what is most important to me this holiday season.  What do I want to radiate?  What do I want for my family, friends, and the world around me?  What are some steps I could take to get a little closer to that vision?

Time to be mindful about spending.  How can I create a sense of warmth and coziness this season without breaking our family budget?  How can I reduce in all-about-me areas to make more room for others?  Am I motivated by the desire to bless others or acting out of obligation?

Time to put the phone down and attack neglected projects.  Which areas of overflow should I hit first (drawers, cabinets, school papers or closets)?

Time to review the way I have been living.  Am I moving through the days with intention?  Am I taking time each day to write?  Am I spending time in God’s word?  Am I talking and listening to God?  Am I taking steps to reach out to others even when it’s out of my comfort zone?  Am I mindful of those hurting around me?  Am I being a light in this dark-at-times world?

Time to zero in on my word for next year.  What repeated themes have I noticed in my journal?  What words keep coming to mind?  When reading through the definitions for each word, which parts speak most to me?  What are the antonyms and synonyms for each word?  Which word will best help me move towards my goals?

Making plans to cultivate the things that matter most is the heart of Lara Casey’s mission.  If you haven’t a clue where to begin, I highly recommend investing in (and working through) her PowerSheets in 2018!  You will find details HERE.

[The images above were captured a couple of weeks ago, I believe this was our 14th year mingling with neighborhood peeps on Halloween!  The sweet little family above is one of my favorite parts, they stop by every year in cleverly coordinated costumes.]
