This beautiful family is one of just a handful I photograph every year, often at this very location [their family farm]:
The image above was captured in 2009. (My absolute favorite.) And because I photograph them from year-to-year, the little guy now knows me. And poses for me.
Without crying. 🙂 And because he is so much older, I told him that this time I would take five pictures just for him. After much thought, he chose this as his first image:
Must be pretty special to him. Then he wanted a picture that included his grandparents.
He even wanted a shot with me!
Oh for sweet!!!!!!!!!!!
I asked Mellissa for tips to pass along to others, to share what goes into making the most of their sessions. She said it’s not something she has ever given conscious thought to, adding:
I think we approach it with the attitude of letting you watch or spy on us. We are not there for “portraits” we are there to capture our everyday sillies, our play time; those moments that will fly by and that we treasure and never want to forget.
That is the secret: they are not there for me, they are there for themselves! Enjoying the moment, enjoying each other.
And that’s what makes their sessions so special.
As always, a joy!! Thanks for letting me spy. 😀
