Seeking balance, living with intention, making a difference in this world, finding contentment, understanding my purpose, and helping others pretty much sums me up. For nine years, I was trapped by an eating disorder. Most of that time was spent struggling with depression, fear, and self-made disasters.
A lot of time was lost.
That was more than 20 years ago. Since then, I have actively pursued balance. With the help of therapy, God’s word, and a vibrant church I have maintained depression-free living without medication.
Living a balanced life does not come naturally, even all these years later. It requires daily choices and actions. It requires plugging into trusted sources outside of myself. It requires honesty and owning my part. It requires the poking and prodding of my emotions through journaling.
It requires the help of someone/something larger than my broken, fallible self => that’s where God comes in. Because there is no way I would be where I am today without Him.
If you are struggling to find balance in your life, perhaps something as simple as plugging into a weekly church service might help.
Nearly every church has made services available virtually, making it really easy to get connected and determine whether or not it’s a good fit. It might just be the thing you need.
