Seeking balance, living with intention, making a difference in this world, finding contentment, understanding my purpose, and helping others pretty much sums me up. For nine years, I was trapped by an eating disorder. Most of that time was spent struggling with depression, fear, and self-made disasters.
A lot of time was lost.
That was more than 20 years ago. Since then, I have actively pursued balance. With the help of therapy, God’s word, and a vibrant church I have maintained depression-free living without medication.
Living a balanced life does not come naturally, even all these years later. It requires daily choices and actions. It requires plugging into trusted sources outside of myself. It requires honesty and owning my part. It requires the poking and prodding of my emotions through journaling.
It requires the help of someone/something larger than my broken, fallible self => that’s where God comes in. Because there is no way I would be where I am today without Him.
If you are struggling to find balance in your life, perhaps something as simple as plugging into a weekly church service might help. My church recently began offering Live Streaming of their weekend services.
A “safe” way to start, especially if the thought of stepping into a church makes you uncomfortable. The services take place on Saturdays at 5:00 pm and on Sundays at 9:00 am and 11:00 am (CST). To view the service, click HERE about 5 minutes prior to the start of your preferred service to find the “WATCH LIVE” link.
It might just be the thing you need. You may even like it. 🙂
