I had been looking for a way to bring The Prospects together that would amount to more than the guys hanging out in one room “talking band” and the ladies in another (with my introvertish self feeling all awkward) getting to know each other better.
So I approached my husband with the idea of a Favorite Things party, something that had been on my radar for a very long time. He told me to go for it.
I ordered invitations from Tiny Prints that included instructions for each guest to bring three identical items in the $10-15 range, something considered to be a favorite in their book.
Gifts included a mix of movies, snacks, beer, wine, books, gift cards & treats. Names were drawn throughout the evening and guests were ultimately able to choose three gifts (other than their own) from the table to bring home.
And much to the horror surprise of at least one of our guests…
The evening included a couples gingerbread house building contest!
Cuz that’s how we roll over here. The judges took their time reviewing our work, rating the gingerbread houses on everything from most structurally sound to most creative.
Best overall won a gift certificate to Old World Pizza for a date night at one of Tony and my favorite spots. 😀
The evening would have been PERFECT had it not been for a tragic “accident” at the end of the night.
Funny thing is, it happened after I insisted our guests take their gingerbread creations home – despite some extensive protesting. 😕
Thanks for the fun, fun evening!
