I first met Scarlet in 2013 when her momma invited me into their home to capture a bit of magic (click HERE for the full post). Over the years, I have had both the privilege and blessing of being able to capture bits and pieces of her story.
And through it I have witnessed firsthand the power of love, overcoming obstacles and surpassing odds. A little girl without a voice of her own, making a heck of a lot of noise with the help of her parents:
Winning over heart after heart.
And if it hadn’t already been made clear by life unfolding before me, it was unmistakable as friends and family gathered in her name last week.
Her parents asked that we all wear red in Scarlet’s honor as we gathered to celebrate the life of this sweet child. Her momma asked if I would bring along my camera.
And it seemed only fitting to capture this chapter as well.
Small but mighty, Scarlet has left a lasting mark.
She has touched countless lives – doctors, nurses, family members, teachers, friends, classmates, parents of classmates, hearts across the world – and I don’t believe her story ends here. Scarlet’s life-changing legacy will remain even as her magical little soul runs free.
And I stand ready to capture that chapter as well.
People were bringing little children to him in order that he might touch them; and the disciples spoke sternly to them. But when Jesus saw this, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the little children come to me; do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs. Mark 10:13-14
